Getting Started with Lumia Security

What is Lumia?
Lumia helps enterprises adopt AI with speed and safety by governing how employees and autonomous agents interact with AI. Powered by a proprietary Protocol Analysis Engine, Lumia interprets the content, context, and intent of every interaction to identify risk and enforce policies tailored to your organization's specific business needs.
Integration
To begin using Lumia Security, you first need to route your organizational AI traffic through Lumia’s Protocol Analysis Engine. This allows Lumia to perform real-time inspection and apply governance policies to your Supported Applications.
1. Find the integration that fits your needs
Lumia supports several integration methods. Choose the approach that best fits your organization’s needs and environment:
1.1 Endpoint Deployment:
This integration type is ideal for organizations without a SASE/SWG solution, or for those seeking granular control over their rollout. It allows you to selectively deploy Lumia to specific users or departments, making it perfect for controlled testing and phased deployments without modifying your network configuration.
Lumia can be deployed to your endpoints either manually or via your MDM solution:
- Manual Deployment: Choose this for immediate, hands-on installation on a small number of devices.
- MDM Deployment: Choose this for an automated, larger-scale rollout to ensure Lumia is deployed simultaneously across all managed devices.
Note: In case one of the following security products is installed on the machine, additional setup is required for the Lumia agent to function properly:
1.2 SASE/SWG Integration:
Integration via SASE/SWG allows you to route traffic at the network level using your existing gateway (such as Zscaler or Netskope) without installing software on individual devices. If your organization already employs a SASE/SWG solution, this is often the most efficient method for a full-scale rollout.
A. Preparation: Application-Specific Requirements
Before connecting your SASE provider, certain applications require manual configuration based on the tool and the operating system being used. Completing these steps first ensures seamless connectivity and uninterrupted service once the integration is live.

B. Select Your SASE/SWG Provider

2. Verify Integration
Follow these steps to ensure the data stream is active:
- Send a Test Prompt: Open either ChatGPT or Claude web application (or any other AI application or tool you already forward to Lumia) . Send a test prompt, such as: "Checking my Lumia connection".
- Access the Lumia Portal: In the sidebar menu, select Interactions.
- Confirm Connection: A new interaction for your test prompt should appear in the Interactions table. This indicates that your integration is live.
Note: If you don’t see your interaction, wait a few moments and click the Refresh Data icon at the top right of the page.
